Foreign Investment and Free Trade Zones

The deadline to comply with the obligation to register as a foreign investment in Nicaragua is September 2025

Please be advised of an approaching deadline for compliance with Law No. 1240, the “Foreign Investment Law”. Nicaraguan companies with foreign shareholders or partners are required to register as foreign investments with the Nicaraguan Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce (MIFIC).

The Law provides a 120-calendar-day period from its effective date for companies to complete this registration. This period expires on September 21, 2025. Failure to formalize this registration by the deadline would constitute a material non-compliance, which could legally impede your company from doing business in Nicaragua. If your company falls under the scope of this Law, we recommend complying with the process above.

If you require further information or assistance to comply with this mandatory requirement, don’t hesitate to contact us.
